Somalia 2023 Humanitarian Funding Overview (As of 31 July 2023)

  • The total funding requirement for Somalia’s Humanitarian Response Plan (HRP) in 2023 is $2.6 billion. However, only $851 million has been received so far, which is about 32.7% of the total funding needed. This leaves a funding gap of $1.75 billion.
  • The food security and nutrition cluster has received $431 million, which is 38% of the required funding.
  • The WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene) cluster has received $259 million, which is 23% of the required funding.
  • The health cluster has received $198 million, which is 27% of the required funding.
  • The USA has provided $593 million, Germany has provided $55.4 million, and the European Commission has provided $47.2 million, among others.
  • In 2022, $1.95 billion was funded out of the required $2.27 billion, leaving a funding gap of $322 million.
  • In 2021, $843 million was funded out of the required $1.09 billion, leaving a funding gap of $249 million.
  • In 2020, $809 million was funded out of the required $1.01 billion, leaving a funding gap of $202 million.
